Gülin Yücel, Member of the Executive Committee, representing Etkiyap, attended the Climate Council organised by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
According to the results of the Climate Council, a road map for Turkey’s fight against climate change will be determined with the participation of all stakeholders. In line with Turkey’s 2053 Net Zero Emissions and Green Development Revolution targets, proposals will be put forward to develop policy proposals for the Climate Law draft and other legislation, to determine the strategic targets of sectors in the context of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adaptation to climate change, and priority actions of institutions.
During the Climate Council, commission studies were held in seven thematic areas for five days, followed by seven roundtable meetings with high-level participation. Gülin Yücel, Member of the Executive Committee, was on the “Local Governments” commission to represent Etkiyap. The concepts of ‘impact investment and impact measurement’ were included in the last day of the voting.
The policy decisions that emerged at the end of the commission meetings held in the Council and the strategic plans to be implemented in the long term will form the basis of the Climate Law.
