Impact Investment Platform “Etkiyap” aims to create awareness and capacity in impact measurement and management, which is one of the most important elements of impact investment in Turkey since the day it was founded. Impact Measurement and Management (IMM), which evaluates the real impact of the investments made, is considered the backbone of the impact investment model. All the works carried out by Etkiyap in this field were gathered under the name of “Etkiyap IMM”. The training series, which Etkiyap aims to train accredited experts who measure social impact, starts as of October!
Etkiyap, which has been providing measurement services to institutions that want to measure their social impact since 2020, is now starting to teach how to measure social impact! The first of the trainings to be given under the roof of Etkiyap IMM will start as of October 11, 2021. The Social Values and SROI Accredited Practitioner Training, which will be given by Ceyda Özgün, the Social Impact Coordinator of Etkiyap and her team, continues to attract great attention.
What is Impact Measurement and Management?
Impact Measurement and Management, which is a process that feeds the decision-making processes in the management of impact investment, starting with goal setting and extending to data collection, analysis and validation, is the most important tool for the correct allocation of resources.
Ideally, the impact should be measured and managed from the feasibility stage of an investment. All organizations that want to take action to manage and maximize impact can start the impact measurement and management process from the moment they make this decision.
Ceyda Özgün, Etkiyap Social Impact Coordinator, expressing her views on the gathering of impact measurement and management activities under the name of Etkiyap IMM, said, “The rules of the game have changed. It will not be possible for businesses that are not aware of their impact and do not use their resources and activities to increase the positive impact, to maintain their place among the gears that make up the wheels of the business world.
More than 150 tools, resources, and methods have been produced on impact measurement and management over the past decade. Based on this fact, Etkiyap emphasizes that without impact measurement and management, which is no longer a choice and gradually becoming the norm, it is not possible to know whether impact investment actually creates an “impact”. Developing awareness and capacity on impact measurement and management is among the founding objectives of Etkiyap.
Etkiyap Chairman of the Executive Board Şafak Müderrisgil said, “For sustainable investments, the intention to create social and environmental impact should be placed at the heart of investments, and the goal of creating impact should become the strategy of that investment. At this point, the impact should be measured from the beginning and throughout the investment; so that the added value created by that investment can be seen and its resources can be managed accordingly. As Etkiyap, we have been providing services to institutions on impact measurement since the day we were founded. Now, in order to respond to the need for capacity building in impact measurement, we are starting to provide training under the umbrella of Etkiyap IMM, in order to train accredited experts on this subject. Etkiyap will fulfill its duty in capacity building by providing both measurement and training on impact measurement and management.”
